Ivory netsuke of Daruma
Carved from a beautiful piece of ivory, Daruma looks straight ahead with a stern frown, his hands hidden within the voluminous sleeves of his robe. He is bald apart from sparse stubble above his huge ears. His eyes are inlaid in dark horn.
Signed behind: Mitsusada
Height: 4.3 cm
While inspired by the Daruma carvings of Mitsuhiro, this is an individual variant, and as far as I can tell a unique one for the artist. Fuld lists no netsuke of Daruma by Mitsusada.
