Ivory netsuke of a wolf with haunch of venison
Attributed to Tomotada (Active 1760-80)

A powerful carving of a classic subject, the lean wolf with its ribs visible all down its back, staring ahead menacingly with fixed expression, the eyes inlaid in dark horn.

Bearing a well written Tomotada signature
Kyoto, circa 1790
