Project Description
A Reishi Fungus Kogo with Inlaid Ants by Jikan Gambun
A delicioiusly conceived object, made from an unworked piece of fungus, cut horizontally towards its bottom to form a box with the addition of a riser to keep the cover in position, the interior almost certainly lacquered, though apparently relacquered more recently. 6 ants of different sizes and materials (apparetnly brass, silver and lacquer) scuttle around the cover. The fungus has been attacked by worm in the past, but to judge by the presence of one ant at the entrance to one hole, one assumes that the fungus was adopted in this state
