An Imari Dish Moulded as a Crane
The face of the dish moulded all over with feathers, some areas embellished with underglaze cobalt blue, the rim outlined in brown. The foot, cut in a manner typical of early blue and white dishes, is decorated with a simple tooth pattern
A dish of this design, facing the other way is in the Burleigh House collection (illustrated in the exhibition catalogue curated by Gordon Lang, no. 16)
