A characterful, if slightly naif, carving, the distinctive spiral bark of the tusk visible along the back of the animal and across its nose, its piebald markings inlays of dark wood, its eyes inlaid horn
Signed: Oshomitsu, followed by another illegible character
Length: 4.1 cm
Little is known about the artist, though Meinertzhagen records the wood inro which has come to us at the same time
