Dark stained wood netsuke of a Kappa by Kōmin

The apparently young Kappa standing with slightly startled look on a clam, which has trapped a hind leg. The Kappa’s eyes are inlaid in bone within gilt metal surrounds, with stained pin prick pupils. At the hinge of the shell there are two inlays of shell, and the barely visible flesh of the clam is rendered with inlays of bone
