A butterfly settled on its back, carved from the same piece of ivory, its markings stippled and inked, the whiskers of the cat carved in relief, the eyes double inlaid

Fuld has 4 separate entries for a netsuke of this description, all of which may be the same netsuke.  The only other two cats I know by the artist are the Hindson example (Davey, no. 132), recently bought by me in Paris for a European collector, and the Bushell one, illustrated in Goodall et al, no. 358
