Project Description

Ivory Netsuke of a Rat and Mochi by Rantei. This is another netsuke from the forthcoming catalogue of netsuke from a French collection.  Apologies for delayed publication, but Covid, death and a shameful invasion of Ukraine are all getting in the way

The rat curled around the outside of the rice cake. There is a pleasing contrast between the incised and stained fur of the rat and the smooth rice cake. The eyes inlaid in dark horn
