Lacquer box in the form of a birdcage

Possibly intended as a natsume, a container for tea. The sides decorated in low relief lacquer with the cage, its cover of netting, tied to its base with cords which attach to rings on the three feet, all in trompe-l’œil. The base and underside with a ground of mokume (imitation wood-grain) lacquer. With small knop handle
