Project Description
Rare Long Stag Antler Nyoi Sceptre by Ozaki Kokusai
The long shaft of slight ogee shape, the base pierced with an inome. The crown is carved from a separate large corona with a stylised rain dragon curled around a lappet with two mon. The top of the shaft is engraved with a key-fret frieze
In the second volume of his magnum opus on the artist, Paul Moss illustrates three other nyoi between nos. 316 and 319, two of which are approximately 10 cm shorter than this, and one longer by a similar difference. Interestingly all have a very similar overall design to the crown
