Small Wood Netsuke of Two Rats by Ittan
The rats curled around each other, their bodies entwined, each tail passing over the back of the other rodent, the whole forming a compact composition with well carved details, the hind leg of one rat forming the himotoshi, the wood is slightly worn and the eyes are inlaid in dark buffalo horn
Signed: Ittan with kaō. Nagoya. Circa 1850
