Tall pale boxwood netsuke of Okame, attributed to Kokeisai Sansho (Osaka, 1871-1926)
Her head wrapped in a scarf, one end of which she grips with her teeth, Okame carries a gourd in front of her, attached by a cord running over her shoulder to a large mushroom. She holds the hem of her kimono, so as not to trip, revealing her bare feet, the separated hems in my view intentionally suggestive
