Wood Netsuke of a Frog on Well Cover by Shigemasa

The creature’s body stippled and lightly stained, the eyes strikingly rendered in a subtler repetition of the same technique, while the well cover is carved with deep grooves imitating a soft wood and stained dark, contrasting with the reddish-brown colour of the frog

Length: 4.4 cm
