The archetypal composition of the subject, but with all the subtle detail of facial expression and anatomy that one would expect of this talented carver, not least the fragility of the limbs, which have survived intact by nothing short of a miracle. The eye pupils are inlaid in dark horn. Unusually the man has slammed his box trap, too late, over a square tray
