Seated with its tail snaking between its legs and licking its raised forepaw. The eyes are double inlays of horn and two fangs are inlays of bone. The stripes of the coat were originally inked, now a little faint

Length: 4.4 cm
Although born in Gifu, the artist moved to Nagoya, and later Kyoto. His enduring influence was on the artists of the Nagoya school. Compare this tiger with one in the Guy de Lasteyrie collection, sold at Bonhams Paris, 14th June 2023, lot 68 (€63,900, almost US$69,000)
