Project Description
Wood Netsuke of Snails on Bamboo by Hoichi
A large snail lies atop a small twist of thin bamboo, to the sides of which cling two much smaller snails. The fleshy part of the large snail is given tactile interest using the ukibori technique, slightly worn from handling. The part of the bamboo which crosses beneath the netsuke is undercut to provide the himotoshi
