Wood netsuke of a Tiger by Tōmin

A fierce male tiger looks over its left shoulder to snarl at something. Its eyes are inlaid in mother of pearl with dark pupils, surrounded by red pigment, which is also present in the mouth

Worn signature: Minko with kaō. Circa 1830

Height: 2.9 cm

Information: 

Compare with the Tōmin in the Victoria and Albert Museum, illustrated on p. 95 of Julia Hutt’s catalogue, as well as on the cover of the first edition.  The attribution for the present netsuke is confident
